Ingredients

1/4 cup dried black walnut hulls (green hulls are strongest, but dried work well)
2 tablespoons dried wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
2 tablespoons whole cloves
2 cups 80-proof vodka or food-grade vegetable glycerin (for alcohol-free version)
*Equipment:**
A quart mason jar
A fine-mesh strainer
Cheesecloth
Dark glass dropper bottles for storage

Method

Place the black walnut hulls, wormwood, and cloves in a clean quart jar.
Pour the vodka (or glycerin) over the herbs, making sure they're fully submerged. Stir to release any air bubbles.
Seal tightly. Label with the date and contents.
Store in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks. Shake the jar every few days.
After 4-6 weeks, strain through cheesecloth layered over a fine-mesh strainer. Squeeze out all the liquid.
Pour into dark glass dropper bottles. Label with the date.
*Suggested use:** Start with 10-15 drops in a small glass of water, once daily before a meal. Work up gradually over a week to 30 drops. Use for 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

Notes

Black walnut hulls, wormwood, and cloves are the traditional trio used in many folk cleanse protocols. Each has its own long history of use in herbal medicine.
Wormwood has a very bitter taste — that's normal. Taking it in water dilutes the flavor.
Pregnant or nursing women should not use wormwood. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any herbal protocol.
