Classic Trail Mix
Not a recipe so much as a blueprint. The perfect trail mix follows a ratio: nuts + seeds + dried fruit + something sweet + something salty.
Time: 10 minutes · Yield: About 600 g (about 4 cups)
Ingredients
- ●150 g (1 cup) raw or roasted nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts — pick 2)
- ●65 g (½ cup) seeds (pumpkin, sunflower)
- ●100 g (¾ cup) dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, apricots, cherries — pick 2)
- ●60 g (½ cup) chocolate chips, cacao nibs, or carob chips
- ●40 g (¼ cup) coconut flakes (optional)
- ●½ tsp fine sea salt (if nuts are unsalted)
Method
- If using raw nuts, toast them on a baking sheet at 163°C (325°F) for 8-10 minutes until fragrant. Let cool.
- Toss everything together in a big bowl. Done.
