Time: 5 minutes active + 6 weeks aging  ·  Yield: 120 ml (½ cup)

Ingredients

  • 40 g (1 packed cup) fresh peppermint leaves, washed and bruised
  • 120 ml (½ cup) 80-proof vodka

Method

  1. Place the bruised mint leaves in a clean glass jar. (Bruising releases the essential oils — just crush them gently in your hands.)
  2. Pour the vodka over the leaves, making sure they're fully submerged. Seal tightly.
  3. Store in a cool, dark place. Shake every few days.
  4. After 4-6 weeks, strain through a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth into a clean bottle. Squeeze the leaves to extract every drop of flavor.
  5. *Storage:** Room temperature for up to 2 years.
