Turmeric Golden Gummies

Anti-inflammatory turmeric in a chewable, enjoyable form. The black pepper and fat in these gummies are included on purpose — they significantly increase the absorption of curcumin, turmeric's key compound.

Time: 15 minutes active, 1 hour to set  ·  Yield: About 50 small gummies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat, canned)
  • 3 tablespoons grass-fed gelatin powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (for curcumin absorption)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey

Method

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of the coconut milk into a saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over the surface. Let bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. Warm over low heat, stirring until gelatin dissolves.
  3. Add the remaining 1/2 cup coconut milk, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and coconut oil. Whisk until smooth and everything is melted and combined.
  4. Remove from heat. Let cool slightly, then whisk in the honey.
  5. Pour into silicone molds. Refrigerate for 1 hour until set.
  6. Pop from molds and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Note: The fat in the coconut milk and coconut oil is essential — curcumin is fat-soluble, meaning it needs fat to be properly absorbed. Black pepper contains piperine, which can increase curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%. The small amount here doesn't affect the flavor. These will stain silicone molds yellow. Dedicated turmeric molds are a good idea.
