Warm Spiced Pear Brandy

The warm counterpart — steaming, spiced, and perfect for a rainy evening by the fire. Use your best pear brandy here since there's less dilution than the cold version. See the Spiced Pear Syrup recipe in the Cold version.

Time: 10 minutes (+ 20 minutes if making the syrup fresh)  ·  Yield: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 oz (60 ml) pear brandy
  • 4 oz (120 ml) hot water or warmed pear nectar
  • 1 tablespoon Spiced Pear Syrup
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • Cinnamon stick and star anise, for garnish

Method

  1. **Make the syrup** (if not already prepared — see Cold Spiced Pear Brandy).
  2. **Heat** the water or pear nectar until steaming (not boiling).
  3. **Combine** in a warmed mug with the brandy, syrup, and lemon juice.
  4. **Stir** gently.
  5. **Garnish** with a cinnamon stick and star anise.
